Exchange Club members distributed hundreds of handheld
American flags to kids & adults in attendance of the Fond du Lac 4th
of July Parade, encouraging patriotism, pride, and participation in civic life.
This is one of our favorite traditions! There’s something
special about seeing a child waving the American flag with joy and excitement.
It’s a simple act, but one that carries deep meaning about who we are as a
community and a country.
The GiveAKidAFlagToWave initiative is part of the
National Exchange Club’s Americanism Program, which aims to foster a deeper
understanding and appreciation of American values, history, and citizenship.
It’s just one way the club works to make Fond du lac a better place to live.

Overview of the Program:
- Purpose:
The program aims to instill patriotism and national pride in children by
providing them with small American flags during community events. - How
it works: Local Exchange Clubs distribute handheld U.S. flags to
children at parades, fairs, Fourth of July celebrations, and other public
gatherings. Members often dress in patriotic attire and interact with
families to encourage positive conversations about citizenship and pride
in country. - Target
Audience: Children of all ages, especially younger ones who may be
experiencing their first exposure to civic celebrations.
Why it matters:
- Promotes
patriotism in a non-political, family-friendly way. - Encourages
kids to feel a part of civic life and national traditions. - Supports
Exchange Club’s broader Americanism goal of educating youth and promoting
pride in country.
