Where the Ice Cream Comes With a View
Award winning scoops, white rocking chairs, and 165 years of family farming at Kelley Country Creamery.
By Fondy Famous · Fond du Lac, Wisconsin
Drive a few minutes outside of Fond du Lac, down a quiet country road, and you’ll find one of the sweetest spots in all of Wisconsin. Kelley Country Creamery sits on a working 165 year old family farm, and the moment you pull in, you understand why people make the trip from all over the state. This isn’t just an ice cream shop. It’s an experience, and we got to sit down with owner Karen Kelley to hear the story behind it.
A Farm Before It Was a Creamery
Long before the first scoop was ever served, this land was home. The Kelley family has farmed here for generations, caring for the cows and the countryside on a farmstead that has stood for 165 years. Today, Karen and her family still operate the working farm, and that heritage is baked (or maybe we should say churned) into everything they do.
That’s what makes the ice cream here different. It starts with farm fresh milk from the family’s own operation, and it’s crafted right on site into award winning hard hand dipped ice cream. When we say this is farm to cone, we mean it in the most literal way possible.
300 Flavors and Counting
Here’s a number that stopped us in our tracks: the Creamery has developed more than 300 ice cream flavors. On any given day, you’ll find 20 to 25 of them in the case, and new flavors rotate in throughout the day. That means the flavor board you see at noon might look different by dinnertime, and no two visits are ever quite the same.
It’s the kind of lineup that turns first timers into regulars. You come once for a cone, and you come back to work your way through the board.

Slow Down and Stay Awhile
Our favorite part of the visit might be what happens after you get your ice cream. Grab a seat in one of the white rocking chairs on the porch, take a breath, and just enjoy the view. From the hillside, you can watch a real working Wisconsin farm go about its day while you work on your scoop.
In a world that moves fast, Kelley Country Creamery invites you to slow down. It’s the kind of place where an ice cream run turns into an afternoon, and an afternoon turns into a family tradition.
