How & Where to Celebrate the 4th of July in Fond du Lac

The 4th of July in Fond du Lac is one of those nights that just feels right. Warm air, Lake Winnebago in the background, fireworks reflecting off the water — it’s the kind of evening that makes you feel like summer is doing exactly what it’s supposed to. Whether you’re planning a full day of festivities or just making your way out for the fireworks, here’s everything you need to know to celebrate well this year.

The Americana Concert at Lakeside Park

Before the fireworks, there’s the concert — and it’s worth showing up for.

The Fond du Lac Symphonic Band takes the stage at the historic Lakeside Park Bandstand at 7:30 PM for the annual Americana Concert. Patriotic favorites, marches, and classic American composers performed live on the lakefront. It’s free, it’s beautiful, and it sets the tone for the whole evening. Bring a blanket, grab a spot on the grass, and let the night build.

Food stands open at 6:15 PM — get there early, settle in, and make an evening of it.

Festival Foods Fireworks at Lakeside Park

July 4, 2026 — 9:30 PM | Lakeside Park, 555 N. Park Ave.

The main event. The Festival Foods Fireworks display over Lake Winnebago is one of the best free fireworks shows in the region — and the lakefront setting makes it something else entirely. There’s a reason people drive in from surrounding communities for this one.

Best viewing is right in Lakeside Park along the waterfront. Get there well before 9:30 to claim your spot — it fills up. Bring chairs, bring blankets, bring snacks, and stay for the whole show. Note that if weather forces a postponement, check the Festival Foods website and local news for the rescheduled date.

Fireworks at the Ballpark — Dock Spiders vs. the Game

July 4, 2026 | Herr-Baker Field

If you want a baseball game and fireworks in one night, the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders have you covered. The Dock Spiders are hosting a July 4 game at Herr-Baker Field with a fireworks show to follow. It’s a great option for families who want a structured event rather than staking out lawn space, and the intimate ballpark atmosphere makes it feel genuinely special. Check dockspiders.com for tickets and game time.

Fond du Lac’s Semiquincentennial Parade

June 27, 2026 | Main Street, 1:00 PM | Free

Before the 4th even arrives, Fond du Lac is throwing a parade — and this one is historic. The Fond du Lac Semiquincentennial Parade on June 27 celebrates America’s 250th birthday with a full downtown procession down Main Street from Rees Street to Second Street. Parade begins at 1:00 PM, with participant lineup starting at 11:30 AM in the Fives–Giddings & Lewis parking lot on Doty Street.

This is a free community event and a genuinely once-in-a-lifetime celebration — 250 years of American independence, marked right here in Fond du Lac. Learn more about the broader local America 250 festivities at fdlamerica250.com.

July 4, 2026 | Head to Oshkosh for a parade

Fond du Lac’s 4th of July celebration is fireworks and concert-forward — if a traditional parade is on your bucket list, Oshkosh is your best bet and it’s only 20 miles north.

The Oshkosh 4th of July parade steps off at 9 AM on July 4, running from Otter Street and N. Main Street through downtown. Star-spangled flags, patriotic floats, marching bands — the full classic experience. After the parade, Menominee Park hosts a Festival Foods food truck show from 3–10 PM, and fireworks light up the sky at 9:45 PM. It’s an easy day trip if you want to make a full holiday of it.

Tips for a Great Night

A few things that make the difference between a good 4th and a great one:

Get there early. Lakeside Park fills up fast. If you want a prime waterfront spot, aim to arrive by 7 PM at the latest.

Bring the layers. July evenings on Lake Winnebago can get breezy once the sun goes down. A light jacket goes a long way.

Leave the drones at home. Fond du Lac city ordinance prohibits drone use within 500 feet of public events during scheduled times. Don’t be that person.

Have a plan for parking. The park area gets congested. Consider parking a few blocks away and walking in — it’s easier on the way out.

Watch from the water. If you have access to a boat, watching the Lakeside fireworks from Lake Winnebago is an experience. Kayak rentals are available in the area if you want to make it happen.

However you celebrate — blanket on the grass, seat at the ballpark, or out on the lake — the 4th of July in Fond du Lac delivers. Happy Independence Day, Fondy.
