There’s enough clothing on our planet right now to dress the next six generations. Let that sink in for a moment.
Over 100 billion garments are produced every year, and about 85% of discarded textiles end up in landfills. It’s a staggering reality that most of us don’t think about when we’re cleaning out our closets or scrolling through the latest trends online.
But Chalsey L. Jenkins thinks about it every single day.
From Small Beginnings to a Downtown Destination
Dreamcatcher’s Corner didn’t start as a storefront. Back in 2020, Chalsey began revamping clothing from her home, breathing new life into pieces that might have otherwise been tossed aside. That passion quickly grew into selling vintage items at pop-up events and local markets. She even traveled to different states to vend, connecting unique finds with people who would truly appreciate them.
Today, you’ll find her shop nestled at 167 S. Main St. in downtown Fond du Lac, where that same passion now fills an entire space dedicated to sustainable, affordable, and one-of-a-kind fashion.
More Than Just a Thrift Shop
Walk into Dreamcatcher’s Corner and you’ll quickly realize this isn’t your typical secondhand store. Yes, there’s vintage clothing with decades of history woven into every stitch. But there’s also handmade items crafted by local community members, home decor that adds character to any space, accessories, band tees, stickers, trinkets, greeting cards, and countless other treasures waiting to be discovered.
Chalsey uses secondhand fabrics and clothing pieces to create her own one-of-a-kind designs, keeping everything sustainable and completely unique. Each item she sources, repairs, or rescues gets a chance to continue its story rather than ending up in a landfill.
And here’s something shoppers love: new items are stocked daily. Every visit offers something different.
The Why Behind It All
For Chalsey, this work goes far deeper than running a business. It’s about saving the planet one garment at a time. It’s about keeping fashion alive as an art form rather than a disposable commodity. And it’s about celebrating the uniqueness in all of us.
“Fashion is an art form, a celebration, a bold gesture, a special kind of communication that helps us show up in the world as us,” Chalsey explains.
Vintage pieces hold a special place in her heart. Each one has stood the test of time and carries its own history. There’s something meaningful about caring for these items and helping them find new homes where they’ll be worn, loved, and appreciated all over again.
Affordable Fashion for Everyone
One thing Chalsey takes pride in is keeping her prices accessible. Sustainable fashion shouldn’t be a luxury reserved for those with deep pockets. At Dreamcatcher’s Corner, you can find quality pieces that fit your style and your budget.
Need help putting a look together? Chalsey genuinely enjoys offering recommendations and fashion advice. She wants every customer to walk out feeling confident and excited about what they’ve found.
